“Cupcakes, Cakes, and Confections”

Although I am a lover of chocolate, I am the first to admit that I don’t have a big sweet tooth. My twin sister got that gene. However, I’ve always had a fascination and admiration for pastry arts and have considered culinary arts school once upon a time. My talent, though, lies in planning events and hiring talented teams to create these artful masterpieces for my guests to enjoy!

While browsing sites of cupcake shops, I came across Vanilla Bake Shop in Santa Monica, CA. It’s no secret for anyone in the industry that cakes have recently been patterned after wedding gowns with lace and beautiful detail. I was particularly drawn to this black and white photo on the main page with color on only the cake whose design was modeled after the “bride’s” dress.

This damask pattern with the pink is very popular this year. You see it in table linens with pink floral centerpieces as well as cupcake designs like this! I love the idea of making the cupcake stand part of the design and not just a structure for the cakes to sit on.

Who says you need to pick between a traditional wedding cake or cupcakes?! Let’s get both!

Cupcake towers can be very chic, stylish, classy, and yummy when done right!

  1. I love this company too! I featured that beautiful “zen”, “green” cupcake display a few months ago when I did a cupcake feature.

Juliet, since I know you love cupcakes, you should check out my cousin Barbara’s cupcake company in Toronto, Canada. It is called Lollicakes. That is because her unique twist is that she inserts a themed and custom painted Belgian chocolate cupcake in them. They are sooo cute! I am so proud of her:)

Ok, I realize this is shameless promotion but what the heck, LOL!

  2. Hi Juliet, I came across your profile on LinkedIn and then your blog. I LOVED the article that just ran in The Nest about this couple and their lives running a bakery together. I believe the guy was wearing a tee shirt that said, Real Men Eat Cupcakes. Perfect, huh. Looking forwad to reading the rest of your blog.
