Mochi Truffles?

I always tell everyone that I do not have a sweet tooth for pies, tarts, or cakes. However, I am fascinated by the world of pastry arts and love blown sugar or chocolate sculptures, extravagant wedding cakes, and delicious chocolate. And so my blogging always goes back to sweets and desserts.

Chocolate truffles are one of my favorite “desserts”. Whoever said that diamonds are a girl’s best friend obviously did not meet the right chocolate truffles. I love them when they are made with Amaretto or Frangelico or filled with Dom Perignon but I’ll eat most truffles that are placed in front of me.

Another favorite of mine is Mochi, a dessert served in Japanese restaurants that is gaining popularity and is now sold in stores like Trader Joe’s. Mochi is a little round dessert with a rice paste on the outside and a sweet filling on the inside.

Now enter Moonpillows. They have managed to combine two of my favorite desserts to make me a very happy girl. Boxes of twelve sell for $22.50 and I’m sure it’s worth every penny! Here are a few flavors I’m interested in trying:

Chocolate-Peanut Butter – creamy chocolate-peanut butter ganache enrobed in cocoa mochi (that’s poetry to me!)

French Roast – chocolate ganache infused with bold French roast coffee, enrobed in French roast mochi

Chocolate Hazelnut (of course) – smooth chocolate-hazelnut ganache enrobed in cocoa mochi

Um, who am I kidding. I’ll take all of them…
