This week has been an inspirational and fun week at the Mandarin Oriental in Las Vegas. Engage!12, the luxury wedding business summit put on by Engaging Concepts, was in Las Vegas this week. When the dates were announced for Las Vegas, I signed up almost right away!
A few weeks ago, I received this in the mail to prepare for our trip to Las Vegas! Since I live in Las Vegas, this didn’t need to go on a luggage but I’ll be using it for future trips. The color scheme for Engage!12, as you can see, is gold and teal.

And here’s my idol. I don’t call too many people my idol and I don’t get “star struck” but Jasmine Star is exactly the way she presents herself on her blog and in her Exposed magazine. I approached her during some downtime when she was alone and she was extremely humble, gracious, and sweet. We chatted about how we’re both twins too! Very cool! She’s a total rock star in my book.
Hand painted name cards by the talented Kristy Rice of Momental Designs. I met her on the opening day and she was incredibly nice too.
Love the chevron, arabesque, official engage logo, and striped backdrop, the ”Stay Caffeinated and engage” coffee cups, painted gold succulents, and teal linen. Definitely not your average meeting room set up!

Lunch was one of the highlights of my week. I sat with Sharon Sacks of Sacks Productions. Ten years ago, as a UNLV student, we planned a luncheon in our capstone class. Sharon was the keynote speaker and I remember it like it was yesterday. She invited a few of us to do a weekend internship for her Revlon Run/Walk event she organizes. So, a classmate and good friend of mine took a road trip to Los Angeles one weekend. Up until this point, I had NO interest in doing special events for a living. I wanted to be a singer, a recording artist to be specific, and I went to school to study up on booking entertainment for hotels as my back up plan. Anyway, I reminded Sharon about that experience (which she remembers) and we talked about that a little. I loved learning from her and meeting new friends at our table.

Closing night – gala! Gala design & decor by Revelry Event Designers. Beautiful gala floral & white dance floor was provided by my friend Randi Garrett of Naakiti Floral Design and custom linen by Kristy Rice for Wildflower Linens.
The amazing band was provided by West Coast Music. During the band’s break, we were surprised with a BOY BAND singing hits from New Kids on the Block, ‘N Sync, Backstreet Boys, and Boyz II Men. It is seriously the coolest thing to see a room full of women belting out hits from boy bands of the 90s and early 2000s.
Here’s a photo taken from a phone of Amber Gustafson of Amber Events and I in our dresses. We rented our fab designer dresses from Rent the Runway. Amber and I “met” years ago on an online wedding planner forum and then met in person in 2008 at the ABC conference in Newport Beach, California. It was fun seeing her again after all of these years!
