One of my past brides tagged me in a photo on Instragram saying “One of your brides needs to do this cake!”. I couldn’t agree more! These cakes stopped me in my tracks while I spent a good minute admiring the details.
What is a Geode? Well, I will let Wikipedia take over this part and I will stick with the pretty. Check out these cakes below for inspiration if you are thinking of a Geode cake for your wedding!
I am a huge believer in being at the right place at the right time and Sarah and Kevin were at the right place at the right time when they met teaching at the same school here in Las Vegas. They are no longer Las Vegas locals and Kevin has since changed careers into law, but Vegas will always give them a sentimental feeling. They will be getting married at Springs Preserve this spring and so they wanted to give the venue a test run by doing their engagement photos on property. You know a couple is meant to be yours when you have a full discussion together on how much you love Raising Canes. Cheers to chicken fingers and a beautiful wedding to come!
Allow me to reintroduce myself. My name is Angelica McDonnell and I am the OWNER of Green Orchid Events! I started with Green Orchid Events 8 years ago when the company had just started and grew to be the Senior Event Manager. I am excited, nervous, and of course a tad bit scared!
Great question! I was terrified of being an owner and it is something I avoided for years. Change scares me, but I know growth is important. Juliet who owned Green Orchid Events, decided to step away from weddings completely and continue her current position at Fleming’s Steakhouse in Town Square as their Private Dining Director. Please go visit her and their Fleming’s Potatoes are a must! I can’t thank her enough for having faith in me from day one. She took me in when I had no experience and I learned SO much while working under her leadership. We had the best time doing weddings together and of course we had our “you are annoying me” moments like any true friendship. When she presented me with this opportunity, I knew I had to take it. I will admit there were a few tears as I am going to miss working with her terribly. I am still in love with weddings and they are a true passion of mine so taking on the company was an easy decision. Luckily, Juliet and I are still the greatest of friends who talk constantly and you will most likely catch us out together on a foodie adventure.
I plan on keeping the name as it is established and I still believe in the brand and what Green Orchid Events stands for. I am looking forward to a fantastic 2016 wedding season with wonderful weddings coming up! I am beyond blessed to work with such an amazing wedding community. Your support and positive words have meant the world to me and we could not plan the weddings we do without you! If we have not met yet, that needs to change! Chatting about life over coffee is my fave.
Cheers to the future, love, and being a boss!

I always love hearing the stories of how couples get together and what it is that brought us to this day….their wedding day! Calais and David have had many ups and downs that brought them to where there are today and because of those life experiences, they are stronger than ever and make one amazing team! Their photos will give you a glimpse of the strong love they have for one another.
I love this special moment of Calais hugging her mother and sister before the ceremony.
We LOVE the idea of a welcome party! A welcome party is the perfect event and one heck of an icebreaker to have before your wedding day. We all have friends and family from different facets of our lives so what a great idea to get them together before you say “I Do!”. A welcome event is also a great way to spend more time with your guests, especially if they have traveled out of the state/country to attend your big day!
Joanne and Ross chose to host their welcome party at the Neon Museum which houses iconic Las Vegas signs. They wanted an old school Vegas feel and what better location than Neon Museum! Their guests dined on delicious fresh tacos from Senor Blues food truck while listening to the talents of a local mariachi band.
Before the night got started Joanne and Ross had a photo session with Janelle Addis Photography! Thank you for sharing these great photos!
Rentals such as high boys, linen, bistro lights, and lounge furniture were brought in for a special touch to the party.
Joanne came across these dinosaur planters that held succulents and knew they had to have them as a centerpiece for their tables! This dinosaur decided to hold a custom poker chip for the bride and groom!
ShutterBooth was onsite to take photos with their open air booth.
We will be sharing their fabulous wedding at Springs Preserve soon. Here is a sneak peek for you!
