The Importance of Hiring a Professional Photographer and Videographer

This couple made it on the news and was one of Yahoo’s top stories today. It was a sad story of many missed moments from their wedding day from an incompetent photographer and videographer.  The bride and groom eventually sued and won the case however I’m sure they still feel like they’ve lost. Shaw Productions - October 9, 2009 - 9:55 am

Just saw that video. I also noticed that the heads of their video camera were misfunctional and needed cleaning too. Taking care of your equipment is very important. My question would also be was this a professional videography and photography company or just some guy who purchased cameras and suddenly called himself a videographer and photographer? Another question would be how much was the contract? Sometimes you just get what you pay for. Just recently I had someone tell me that they are hiring a videographer who agreed to shoot the ceremony for $100 and I can already tell you what that is going to look like. Since it takes about 30 hours to properly edit a wedding video not counting the shooting you can already imagine what you are going to get for $100.
Thanks Juliet for a great article!

I completely agree with you. I’m sure it may have been a “budget” videographer they’ve hired. I can’t imagine someone hiring a videographer for $100. The time we all spend on weddings goes beyond the 8 – 10 hours on the wedding day – there is so much “behind the scenes” work before and/or after the wedding that is done!
The same goes for a wedding day coordinator. We are on site for 8 – 10 hours on the day of the wedding, at least an hour for the rehearsal and spend hours reviewing all contracts and details to create a detailed wedding day timeline. There is no way we can only charge $300 for wedding “day” coordination.
Thanks for commenting Joan!

Thank you so very much for making the ENTIRE weekend such a success! Absolutely everyone is complimenting the entire affair and there is absolutely no way we could have done it without you. Not only did you take such amazing care of us and work hard to make this weekend a success, but you brought Adam into our lives as well. You truly went above and beyond and we are both so grateful for all you did!

I wish you much success in wedding planning! I am going back to my corporate event planning!
