Wedding Videography vs. Cinematography: The Future of Wedding Films

Gone are the days of the long, boring, cheesy, home video style wedding videos. These days, we have “wedding films”. While this is well known to professionals in the wedding and event industry, people outside of the industry still don’t realize how far wedding “videos” have come. Terrence Lighten of Lighten Films has written about...

I couldn’t agree anymore! I have always been in love with this style and it works as strong as the photos from their wedding day. The important emotional roller coaster at a wedding doesn’t need all the long filler that would otherwise leave people craving the emotional connection lacking in a dragged out 5 hour wedding video.

I saw their pictures on another blog. They look so lovely. They make me so excited to get married. The brides maid all look so cute in pink. Like it.

The Importance of Hiring a Professional Photographer and Videographer

This couple made it on the news and was one of Yahoo’s top stories today. It was a sad story of many missed moments from their wedding day from an incompetent photographer and videographer.  The bride and groom eventually sued and won the case however I’m sure they still feel like they’ve lost. Check out...

Just saw that video. I also noticed that the heads of their video camera were misfunctional and needed cleaning too. Taking care of your equipment is very important. My question would also be was this a professional videography and photography company or just some guy who purchased cameras and suddenly called himself a videographer and photographer? Another question would be how much was the contract? Sometimes you just get what you pay for. Just recently I had someone tell me that they are hiring a videographer who agreed to shoot the ceremony for $100 and I can already tell you what that is going to look like. Since it takes about 30 hours to properly edit a wedding video not counting the shooting you can already imagine what you are going to get for $100.
Thanks Juliet for a great article!

I completely agree with you. I’m sure it may have been a “budget” videographer they’ve hired. I can’t imagine someone hiring a videographer for $100. The time we all spend on weddings goes beyond the 8 – 10 hours on the wedding day – there is so much “behind the scenes” work before and/or after the wedding that is done!
The same goes for a wedding day coordinator. We are on site for 8 – 10 hours on the day of the wedding, at least an hour for the rehearsal and spend hours reviewing all contracts and details to create a detailed wedding day timeline. There is no way we can only charge $300 for wedding “day” coordination.
Thanks for commenting Joan!

Wedding Cinematography

Wedding videos have come a long way. They are no longer your home videos and I am certainly happy about that! I love the films that are being created by these truly talented artists and have a soft spot for the vintage ones especially. I “met” a great wedding videographer (or wedding cinematographer/filmmaker as they...
